Leadership Roundtable

You find yourself in stimulating environment in this place. Remember, this is

the Leadership Roundtable. Here is where we talk about leadership, the theory

and practice of it as it applies to all kinds of organizations and settings.

The purpose of this roundtable is to gather individuals who have a high

spirit of inquiry; therefore, we anticipate a great deal of constructive

dialogue.

Dr.Stimac wonders what John Work thinks about the article she gave the group

on diversity that appeared in the Harvard Business Review.

Wheatley says, "yes, we must listen and glean meaning from what seems to have

Terry__Deal thinks that Wheatly has found out about the gift of power

occur. That we can live without it. Do you think that's possible? We

always think that conflict is inevitable and that we can learn to turn it

into constructive ends. What do you think?"

Adler suggests that we all pursue great books and continue our liberal

looking at...but we still need a help in building leaders! Especially from

Peter_Senge thinks conflict is inevitable and we have to learn to control

conflict in a positive way.

Dr.Stimac suddently notices Burt. Is glad he has arrived.

Adler says, "Joseph Rost is leadership occuring here tonight at the leadership

round table?"

Alex_and_Deepak says, "Answer me this: Do we all have shared values?"

Terry__Deal says, "Dr. Stimac, I wonder about how to live without conflict"

Judith_Bardwick [Guest] says, "economic conflict is inevitable in the 90s"

Maria says, "well without conflict could there be peace?"

Dr.Stimac says, "How do we control destructive conflict."

Alex_and_Deepak says, "Answer me this: Do we all have shared vision?"

Maria says, "interesting concept"

Terry__Deal laughs at bardwicks banality

Peter_Senge wonders why Viktor is the only one to be entitled. Aren'

Alex_and_Deepak says, "I mean WE"

Maria [to Alex_and_Deepak]: yes just be one with your spririt and you will

have a conflict free experience

Peter_Senge says, "Aren't we all entitled?"

Terry__Deal says, "What was the earth meant for Alex?"

Joseph__fRost says, "Guy and Gals I don't mean to be pushy or anything I just

feel it is important that we all have a mutual purpose here."

Dr.Stimac wonders if Viktor would agree with Adler that attaining "real goods"

in other words, getting your needs fulfilled is important to attaining

ethical happiness. Frankl was without those "real goods" for so long.

Maria says, "we are all entitled to a good life"

Viktor_Frankl reaches for the chocolate chips

Wheatley says, "wheatley just experienced a sudden iteration of chaos but has

returned"

You say, "It is not without conflict..but in the process we must not be guilty

fo wrongful deeds"

Carl_Rogers says, "Judith, you feel that Viktor is the only one to be entitled

because......?"

Judith_Bardwick thinks Peter Senge's rubber band is on too tight....

Alex_and_Deepak says, "WE can be conflict-free. But humanity cannot."

Maria agrees with Dr. King

Adler answers Alex and Deepak with a question: Do you 2 think that conflict

free is worth striving for through intellectual and moral virtue wrapped in

prudence?

Dr.Stimac says, "Joseph, I don't think we can push mutual purpose. We'll have

to work as a team and share leadership to achieve it."

Maria ponders that thought

Carl_Rogers says, "What bothers you about Peter's rubber band, Judith?"

Judith_Bardwick [Guest] says, "he has suffered the most. We are just in the

daner zone"

Peter_Senge comments that iit is elastic, Judith!

Terry__Deal says, "thinks this party is hilarious"

Frances_Hesselbein says, "Building peace amongst our children"

Carl_Rogers says, "Peter, did that comment of Judith's bother you?"

Peter_Senge says, "Suffering is relative to the individual."

an oasis of freedom and justice"

Carl_Rogers says, "Peter, how do you feel when Dr. Stimac gives a rubber band?"

Peter_Senge feels like a little kid again.

Joseph__fRost says, "Dr. Stimac these purposes are not goals, purposes are

more over ranking and wholistic than goals, and they are less oriented to

quantification"

Dr.Stimac wonders if the group knows that Morton Deutsch, the treat

cooperator, won't make it tonight.

Wheatley says, "someday our fields, inextricably tied to teh same wavelenght,

may eradicate conflict; but, since we are all different, necessarily are

fields must sometimes clash"

Judith_Bardwick wonders why Burt is quoting Warren without attribution? Kay

Davis would have a cow!

Terry__Deal Peter looks ready too start a learning organization

Carl_Rogers says, "What does it feel like to be a little kid again, Peter?"

Dr.Stimac says, "Sees that the tension between reality and vision is

stretching too far (the rubber band might pop any moment now)."

Judith_Bardwick [Guest] says, "I am bothered by the fact that we are al too

compacent"

Adler says, "Peter progress the mission with the rubber band. It is not

intellectually virtuous to wack someone with its potential"

Dr.Stimac says, "Too comfortable, Judith?"

Alex_and_Deepak says, "I don't know a group of greater malcontents in the

world, than this gathering!"

Dr.Stimac laughs at Margaret. Always looking for chaos.

Maria smiles at Ken

Carl_Rogers says, "You take comfort in that truth, don't you, Dr. King?"

Burt_nanus laughs loudly

Machiavelli says, "war is good business"

Viktor_Frankl says, "There are two races decent men/women and indecent

men/women where do all of you fit in the big picture?"

Judith_Bardwick [Guest] says, "join us Ken. This is a great situation."

needs new batteries and my pocket fax is out of plasma!"

but, ultimately, chance has a role in the outcome, don't you think?"

Peter_Senge wonders whether Freud might be easier to deal with.

Maria giggles

Adler wonders how all of Peter Senge's learning communities are pursuing their

visions

Marshall_Goldsmith says, "You can grow if you take action."

Frances_Hesselbein says, "people are the organizations most important power."

Wheatley says, "My dear machiavelli, do you think that power will always lead

to control; history seems to show not"

Dr.Stimac notices how spiritual Deal has gotten of late. Maria must have

really changed his life.

Carl_Rogers says, "Judith, you like living the good life?"

Alex_and_Deepak says, "Hey, Mort, I think we can hang together. You are sooo

optomistic and our global economy needs more of that!"

comfortable in it."

organization"

want to pursue the other good life"

your spirituality?"

for leadership has lead me to higher ground so to speak"
