Azusa Pacific's women's tennis team enters its second year of intercollegiate competition this spring after an inaugural 7-12 season overall, 3-7 in Golden State Athletic Conference play. The Cougars experienced both ups and downs last year, but the best win for the young Cougars came against then-No. 24-ranked So. Cal College in a GSAC dual match. With its deeper roster, a strong recruiting class, and last year's experience, Azusa Pacific, led by head coach Mark Bohren, should compete among the best in the GSAC, including Westmont and Point Loma.
Azusa Pacific typically plays a 20-30 match schedule, including 10 conference matches. Playing some of the top programs in the NAIA, Azusa Pacific also opposes several NCAA Div. II and III powers, while competing against NCAA Div. I teams as well. Athletic scholarships help build the typical 9-member roster.
Azusa Pacific plays home matches at the Industry Hills Tennis Resort in the heart of the San Gabriel Valley. The Cougars play with distinct starting times in the afternoon to coincide with the warm Southern California weather.
