After Adams graduated from law school, he became a lawyer.  His most famous trial involved the defense of an unpopular British officer who was unfairly accused of being responsible for the Boston Massacre.  The Boston Massacre occurred one night… etc … For Adams to defend the man was obviously a risky thing to do, considering the popular hatred of the British by   Adams’ friends and peers.  Yet Adams successfully defended the British officer, who was found not guilty.

Adams considered it his duty to defend the British officer, but he was a vigorous voice of Independence.  Adams became a delegate to both the Continental Congresses and signed the Declaration of Independence.  Though the British threatened his life and the safety of his family, Adams felt as if this was the right thing to do.

During the Revolutionary War, Adams served his country by acting as a diplomat to Holland and France.  He also used his abilities to help write the peace treaty that ended the American Revolution.
